I'm 73 and after going through my second heart ablation the other day (I had one back in November of 2022) it's on my mind a lot more. Especially when my night nurse asked me about my DNR! It most certainly is a privilege--one that so many others don't get.
You have such a big heart! I’m glad you’re being proactive to take care of it. Let’s keep it in rhythm. Sending it all the good vibes. 🫶🫶🫶Frankly I also should do my DNR and advanced directive but I’m so indecisive about it all. So I feel you!
Awww thanks Taylor!!!! <3 The nurse said, "So no heroic measures if your heart was to stop--no trying to get it to start and no intubation?" I had just had my ablation that morning and was pretty sure all was ok. She did too but said because it was heart surgery she needed to ask and all I could think of was NO I want to live! I told her I consider my DNR to be like when I'm 95 and have some terminal disease and there's no hope. I need to go back and look at the DNR because I most certainly would have wanted them to at least try that night!
Thank you for sharing. And happy birthday! Congratulations!! 81 years young is epic. Many of my favorite people were born next week. You do so much good in this world and your light shines so bright.

As a three time ventilator champ, I get why some folks don’t want resuscitation- it’s not great but also here I am and thank goodness 🙏🙏🙏
Aging does deserve a congratulations! In the Netherlands it is custom to congratulation the birthday person as well as all their family and friends!
I enjoyed this post, thank you for the reminder to love on my body. :) :) :)
They know what’s up over there! Give that happy working body all the love it deserves!
I love your way of presenting death as "growing all the way up". That's just great.
I also agree with your assessment that your elders were growing more and more ready for the "next spiritual adventure".
I feel myself readying for that; I turn 81 next week.
But I'm working really hard (and well) until that very last moment!
love to you,
erika
