Hi there Substack readers - Happy Father’s day.
Despite my own biological father being a disappointment, I’ve been surrounded by some great Dads in my life. From my Pop-Pop to my stepdad Brad… and now Zach.
Wow is he a doting Dad. No one loves July like Zach.
When I’d lament how we can’t have more children, Zach will inevitably say something like,”I can’t imagine another. JJ is enough. How can it get better than this?”
The photo above is July’s first skin on skin. That’s a smile amidst chaos as he held her in a little closet because I was in an ICU not waking up.
Zach’s caregiver story is its own incredible ride. I write about it a lot. Here are some posts that feature his journey to fatherhood.

DID YOU KNOW?
Dick Van Dyke is a big fan of Zach’s band Dustbowl Revival. Here’s a video featuring Dick dancing to once of Zach’s more bluegrassy old-school tunes. It went viral when he dropped it. Dick’s a good judge of music.
Zach tours a lot this summer. Check out his website for tour details. They are a blast.
If you’re new here and wondering, “what happened to this lady?” read:
I started writing this when I was on dialysis. It’s intended to be both memoir and a practical tool to help folks who might be going through something similar or those caregivers and family supporting someone with a challenging diagnosis. NOTE: This is not intended to replace actual medical guidance. Please consult your doctors on your individual challenges and situations. Please talk to your clinicians before adjusting any of your care protocols. Also names have been changed for most of my medical staff.
Thank you to CC Couchois, Roy Lenn, and Dr. Richard Burwick for your founding level donation.
T, this is a beautiful testament to Zach and to the power of love. So thankful you are here to tell it.❤️❤️
