Donating Blood Can Help Save Lives, Including Your Own
A special summer gift for those of you blood donor heroes!
Happy Summer, Readers!
A year ago, I posted a letter to blood donors thanking them. After July’s birth, they couldn’t transfuse me fast enough and I received a handful of donations. I wouldn’t be here without those generous gifts.
One donation can save up to three lives. And maybe even your own!
There’s clear health benefits to giving blood. It’s good for your heart and vascular system and lowers blood pressure and the risk of heart attack. It can even lower your risk of cancer. Plus you get a quick check-up, which could help flag issues you may not know you have.
ALSO: For one blood donation, it takes your body about 500 calories to replace it- so the juice and fruit snacks you’re offered after giving blood are a “zero-calorie snack!” Reward your good deed after with a delicious dessert!
If you are a blood donor or decide to become one after reading this post, drop a comment below and I’ll send you a special link for a two week free trial access to all my archives for your summer reading.
I am forever grateful to you, donors. Thank you always.
If you’re new here and wondering, “what happened to this lady?” read The Fighter Still Remains Part 1. xo
If you’re new here, intended to be both memoir and a practical tool to help folks who might be going through something similar or those caregivers and family supporting someone with a challenging diagnosis. I hope to include excerpts here as I write. NOTE: This is not intended to replace actual medical guidance. Please consult your doctors on your individual challenges and situations. Also names have been changed for most of my medical staff.
Thank you to CC Couchois, Roy Lenn, and Dr. Richard Burwick for your founding level donation.
