"We're eliminating your position"
I really could've used a boring year... guess that's not in the cards.
Hi Readers,
First, I want to say thank you. I doubled my paid subscribers in a week after sharing the brutal news that after fourteen years and ten months, I was laid off from my stable job.
I am a dedicated worker. Even coming back to work while on dialysis when most people would have stayed on long term disability.
I learned complicated audio software, aka Protools, while on dialysis. Like literally strapped on the machine. And if you know what Protools is, you know it’s not easy or intuitive, let alone doing it during a blood pressure rollercoaster.
I am proud of what I accomplished - I thrived and built and grew my skills at a time when many would have cocooned. And never missed a deadline!
And yet, for all my abilities and loyalty and successes and supporting the company growth… I’m now facing instability and the wild unknown.
I’m daunted by all this change.
I was really hoping for a boring year… but here I am, nine months after getting off dialysis, challenged by another life upheaval.
At least, no one is actively dying right now…
I’m doing a great deal of processing. Trying to evaluate my next steps.
So many of you have jumped to support me and I’m so so so grateful. There’s not enough words like so and very and deeply and profoundly that I can place in front of thankful to adequately express my feelings.
For those who can’t help monetarily (no one gets that more than me right now), just subscribing and sharing the blog/newsletter is a beautiful and kind gesture.
In a time of chaos, you all are radiant reminders that the world is full of support and love in hard moments that knock the breath out of us.
And when one door closes, another opens, of course.
I just need to have the next door to open with decent health insurance.
