I hope you’re getting the rest and recharge you need and deserve!
At dinner one night, I began a little ritual. Rituals are not really my vibe, but this one is so simple and so helpful, it’s hard to deny its effectiveness.
As Mental Health Month continues, I hope this might be helpful for folks. It immediately turns a hard day into a hopeful and grateful one full of love.
As you may have noticed, unlike many Substackers, I give away most of my content that I know can help people for free.
My pledge: I’ll never tease you with something I know will make your life better and stick a paywall in your way. But all these posts take a ton of research and effort.

2 Daily Questions
For the past month or so, at dinner with Zach and July I started asking two questions of everyone- “what are you grateful for today?” and “how did you help today?”

I started writing this when I was on dialysis. It’s intended to be both memoir and a practical tool to help folks who might be going through something similar or those caregivers and family supporting someone with a challenging diagnosis. NOTE: This is not intended to replace actual medical guidance. Please consult your doctors on your individual challenges and situations. Please talk to your clinicians before adjusting any of your care protocols. Also names have been changed for most of my medical staff.
